When Michael Saia from jumP NY/Manic NY decided to open a Los Angeles facility, he turned to GPL Technologies to get the job done. Starting with a shell of an old metal shop, the machine room’s equipment was designed, selected and then subsequently refined by GPL.

Using GPL’s agnostic approach to technology, GPL decided on Apple’s Final Cut Pro for editing, as it is quickly becoming the professional standard for editorial houses. jumP NY/Manic NY chose EditShare as its SAN because their products are designed to maximize media sharing and storage for multi-user editing environments. Leveraging the power of Gigabit Ethernet, EditShare is simple to install and easy to use.

For switching, GPL implemented a PowerConnect 6248, as it is one of Dell’s most advanced offerings and features superior core switching capabilities for small to medium-sized enterprises. In addition, the 48-port Gigabit Ethernet Layer 3 switch is stackable, offers optional 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks, and supports the latest version of the Internet Protocol—Ipv6—enabling broader worldwide scalability.

To accelerate the creative workflow in online visual effects and compositing, GPL turned to the widely used Autodesk Flame software. This highly interactive 3D and compositing tool is the ideal solution for client-assisted productions and quick turnarounds on time-critical projects.

Tim Cannella from Keycode played an instrumental role in ensuring the equipment was properly ordered and shipped from Apple and Autodesk.

jumP Editorial’s Los Angeles facility is now up and running.
